Solar PV System Installation

Generate your own power and transform sunshine into energy savings.

image-26

A solar photovoltaic (PV) system is a green technology that uses solar panels to convert sunlight into an electricity source for your home.

Installing solar PV allows you to generate your own renewable power, boost your energy independence, and slash your electricity bills by up to 60%. What’s more, there may be times when your spare energy can be exported back to the grid in return for payment.

At Bundle, our mission is to help every home in the UK save money, energy, and the planet.

Our expert team can guide you to the right solar PV system for your home, advise you on the costs and payback period (that’s money back in your pocket), and help you on your journey to a more energy-efficient, sustainable future.

Solar PV | Benefits at a glance

  • Lower energy bills and financial savings
  • Energy independence
  • Greater energy efficiency
  • Reduced environmental impact
  • Increased property value
  • Money back from the grid

How does Solar PV work?

  • Collecting sunlight: Solar panels are set up on rooftops to catch sunlight. When the sun is out (even with cloud cover), the panels soak up the light.
  • Creating energy: The sunlight helps to move tiny PV cells in the panels. This creates electricity using a process called the photovoltaic effect.
  • Converting electricity: The electricity goes to a device called an inverter that converts it to a usable form of electricity for our homes.
  • Powering your home: The converted electricity is ready to power your lights, appliances, and other household devices.
  • Save a Bundle on your bills: Put your feet up and enjoy your energy independence, plus money back in your pocket. An average household can save up to £310 on annual energy bills.
  • Money back from the grid: As an added bonus, if you produce more electricity than you need, your spare power can be sent back to the energy company in return for payment.

There are a number of government grants available to help homeowners make the switch to greener energy alternatives.

These grants can dramatically reduce the costs of installing a renewable energy system, making it more accessible than ever to upgrade your home sustainably.

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) is a government scheme designed to tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions within low-income homes across the UK.Unlike other energy grants, ECO4 puts the onus on some of the larger energy companies to assist eligible households with insulation and heating upgrades and boost energy efficiency. You have a strong likelihood of securing ECO4 funding if you:

  • Receive qualifying benefits The overarching goal of ECO4 is to ensure low incomes aren’t a barrier to improving the energy efficiency and warmth of UK homes.
  • Live in social housing with poor energy efficiency Under the ECO4 scheme, energy efficiency measures can be provided to social housing with an EPC rating of D, E, F, and G – and where the premises are rented below the market rate.
  • Have eligibility under ECO4 Flex If you don’t receive any of the qualifying benefits but live in one of the country’s least energy-efficient properties, you may still be able to secure funding through ECO4 Flex.

The Green Deal initiative makes it easier for homeowners to upgrade their homes with energy-saving improvements, like solar panels, insulation, and eco-friendly heating systems. Instead of paying for sustainable upgrades upfront, homeowners can borrow the money. Over time, the savings on energy bills help to repay the cost making it more affordable. The Green Deal is available t0 property owners in England, Wales and Scotland.

Let’s discuss your greener future

Our team can help you:

  • Check your eligibility for the ECO4 scheme
  • Navigate the application process

Green benefits of a solar PV system:

Reduced reliance on fossil fuels

A solar PV system will generate energy for as long as the sun exists. This makes it a super sustainable choice for your home and future generations.

Lower carbon footprint

Cutting back on fossil fuels means reducing your environmental impact. A typical home solar panel system in the UK can save up to 1 tonne of carbon per year.

Greater energy efficiency

Solar panels are a huge boost to your energy independence and the energy efficiency of your home. They generate great savings on your energy bills too.

Long lifespan

Solar panels are designed for durability and longevity, typically lasting up to 25 years with proper maintenance and care. At Bundle, we are unwavering in our support of the UK’s 2030 net zero target.

Our mission is to help every home in the UK save energy, money, and the planet. We are here to guide you and our experts will help you make an informed, hassle-free investment into a greener, more sustainable future.

Frequently Asked Questions

PV stands for “Photovoltaic,” which refers to the technology used to convert sunlight directly into electricity.

Photovoltaic systems are made up of solar panels that contain numerous solar cells. These cells capture sunlight and convert it into electricity using a process called the photovoltaic effect.

Solar PV panels are available in different sizes to meet your property and energy needs. The typical residential panel is roughly 1.6 square meters, and this size will usually produce between 250 to 400 watts of power per panel.

A standard solar panel typically consists of 60 to 72 photovoltaic (PV) cells, depending on its design. Residential panels usually contain 60 cells, while larger commercial models can have up to 72 cells, allowing for greater energy production.

While the terms “solar panels” and “PV panels” are often used interchangeably, they do have distinct meanings.

Solar panels generally refer to any device that collects solar energy. They come in two main types: photovoltaic (PV) panels and solar thermal panels. PV panels are designed to turn sunlight into electricity. On the other hand, solar thermal panels focus on capturing heat from the sun instead of generating electricity.

Essentially, while all PV panels are solar panels, not all solar panels are PV panels. Some are designed to generate heat rather than electricity.
