The Challenge faced by Charlton Care Home

After securing funding from the Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, Bath and Northeast Somerset Council (BANES) needed to design and install and suitable heat pump system for their care home.

The heat pump system needed to work seamlessly with the already existing Solar PV array, ensuring it could operate 24/7, 365 days a year with no downtime. In addition, it had to meet the significant heating demands required for both the building and its residents.

Bundle’s Approach 

Bundle was selected for the project due to our expertise and capability. After conducting detailed surveys of the building, we designed a bespoke Air Source Heat Pump system.

The system was tailored to meet all the heating and hot water needs of the residents, ensuring compatibility with the existing Solar PV array for maximum energy efficiency.

The Results

Projected savings: £877 per year on energy bills.

Carbon emissions: An estimated 36.63 tonnes saved annually.

The installation of the large Air Source Heat Pumps led to substantial savings for Charlton Care Home, both in energy bills and in their carbon footprint.

We installed 2x Carrier 61AF105 units and a 5000L buffer vessel to handle the building’s space heating demand, along with 2x 750L thermal stores for the hot water load.
