The Challenge of a large heat load on Parkfield

Parkfield is a stunning property located near Tetbury in Gloucestershire. The homeowners were relying on an outdated oil-based heating system that was both costly and inefficient. This system not only resulted in inconsistent heating but also contributed to higher carbon emissions, which was a growing concern for the environmentally-conscious homeowners.

After conducting a survey, we identified that the property’s heat load was substantially high, and the existing system was failing to meet the British Heating Standards. The challenge was to provide a solution that could handle the significant heating demands while improving energy efficiency and sustainability.

Bundle’s Approach

Given the high heat load of the property, we determined that a Ground Source Heat Pump would be the ideal solution to meet both the heating and hot water needs. To implement this, we provided a comprehensive package, handling everything from the design to the installation of the system.

This allowed the homeowner to eliminate their oil heating system and plan for a future with clean, renewable, and energy-efficient technology.

We installed a CTC EcoPart 414, which covers the property’s 12.6kW heating load. This compact and quiet unit can be stored internally, fitting perfectly within the utility room. It also runs on single-phase electricity, making it an ideal choice for large properties without access to three-phase power.

The Results

Projected savings: £776.5 per year on energy bills.

Carbon emissions: An estimated 8,500kg saved annually.

Based on the heating and hot water requirement from the EPC, the Ground Source Heat Pump is projected to save approximately £760 per year compared to oil heating.

This project demonstrates the effectiveness of Ground Source Heat Pumps in reducing carbon emissions and energy costs, highlighting the value of energy-efficient, sustainable upgrades.

“We’re delighted with the result, grass has recovered well and crucially in time for the wedding that was held the summer following install” – Parkfield
